Interventional radiology clinicians from the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill have created a short-term strategy to manage remaining supplies of the dye to minimize waste and optimize utility through case prioritization based on patient acuity. Clinicians triage exams based on three categories: emergent; may be delayed for another month; or can be delayed by three months; and a central pharmacy is being used to distribute contrast media, with further details of the strategies described in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology article.
