Communities Crushing Cancer (CCC) is a transformative, residency-led national initiative that raises cancer awareness and promotes early screening. Launched as a grassroots effort within Boston Medical Center’s Menino lobby, CCC has grown into a powerful movement involving residency programs and medical students across the country. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in cancer care by educating the public, distributing informational brochures, and connecting patients to vital resources.

By leveraging the enthusiasm and expertise of Radiology residents, CCC seeks to address cancer disparities and improve health outcomes in underserved communities. The initiative focuses on the three most common cancers in the United States: Breast, Lung, and Colorectal Cancer. Through collaborative efforts, residents engage with patients, families, and hospital staff, emphasizing the importance of regular cancer screenings and early detection.

Each year, CCC unites residents in a coordinated outreach effort within their respective institutions. These dedicated healthcare professionals provide invaluable education on cancer prevention and screening, fostering a renewed sense of community and purpose in their medical careers. Feedback from participating residents has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the impact of this initiative on both personal and professional levels.

Supported by the Radiology Health Equity Coalition (RHEC), the CCC event aligns with the coalition's mission to advance health equity and reduce cancer disparities. By working closely with RHEC’s Mobilization Team members and partners, CCC aims to expand its reach and amplify its impact nationwide.
